Extra Awesome!

I had a wonderful time yesterday!! People were definitely looking at me like I was crazy because I was still having fun as we went into hour 13. I woke up at 4:30 AM, did my hair and makeup for a 'nightclub scene,' and arrived at the set earlier than our 6:30 AM call time.

We brought three different outfits and the wardrobe powers that be told us which outfit to wear. The hair and makeup people touched us up. It was so surreal to be hanging out, just feet away, from people I'd only seen on TV! Audrina from "The Hills" has a part in the movie. I checked IMDB, and it looks like the flick won't be out (DVD only) til 2010. But if you see it, I'm the girl in the back/upper lounge/on the staircase in most shots, dancing awkwardly, cell phone in hand.

I was definitely exhausted when I got home, but I really had a blast. It was cool to see how everything was done, and I met tons of interesting and eclectically-talented people. I definitely will try to work as an extra again.

It was definitely the boost I needed after a rough patch at school. Only a few more weeks til school is out; then all I have to worry about are summer classes.

Hollywood, Here I Come!

I took a personal day today (Wednesday) so I can work as an extra on the MGM movie, "The Reef." According to reports, it's either straight-to-DVD or a movie of the week, but I'm excited since I'm so interested in the industry.

My call time is 6:30 AM and the crew parking lot is in Honolulu (CRAZY traffic) so I will be waking up at 4:30 AM to do my hair and makeup (we're filming a nightclub scene) and get off to an early start. The shoot is expected to last all day, so I have a feeling I'm going to be exhausted tomorrow night. I will definitely write more about my experience on the set!

Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

Thank you so, so, SO much to everyone who sent me cards, presents, brownies, texts, e-mails, Facebook messages, or called me to wish me a happy birthday. You all sure know how to make a girl feel special from 4000 miles away.

Tonight I went to Showdown in Chinatown, a cool short film competition (7 minutes or less). You only have a couple of days to put together the film, and it's a monthly competition. It was pretty cool; there weren't many entries this time but I am definitely planning on going back. The second Saturday of each month, held at NextDoor, 43 N. Hotel Street in Honolulu.
