Dr. Randy Pausch

Yesterday, at orientation, we watched a clip of Randy on Oprah. Our principal bought everyone a copy of "The Last Lecture." Today, I got the sad news that he passed away.

I'm very sad about this, but the message in Randy's life was to celebrate it. So as I go about my day, I will try to be positive and approach those brick walls with a positive attitude and hard work. My thoughts and prayers are with Randy's family, especially their three small children. You can read more here:

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

New York Times

Edit #1 6:50 AM (Hawai'i time) "Randy Pausch" is the #1 topic on Twitter Search and "RIP Randy Pausch" is the #5 trend. I'm just sitting here, watching the number of results climb, refreshing the page, and seeing how profound an impact Professor Pausch had on such a vast quantity of people. As I've edited this blog post (a few minutes at most), there have been 33 new comments that mentioned Randy.

Edit #2: I went to a meeting for almost three hours. When I came back, there were 374 more 'hits' on Twitter Search for Randy Pausch.

I had never heard of this guy before but now I'm watching his you tube video. Perhaps you can share your thoughts on his book once you're done with it

I was just about to send you the link to the article, in case you hadn't heard. I haven't heard the lecture yet, but I did listen to him on Oprah. Sad. :-(

Hey Val,
I have read it before; it's really inspiring and I recommend it to ANYONE. I actually have been using Randy's "ALICE" software to teach computer programming skills to my students.

Hey Maya,
Thanks - You're right, so sad :-(
